St. Martin's feast
from November 7th 2023
This year, we will keep the tradition and we will serve roast geese on your tables to celebrate St. Martin's Day! This year, however, we will extend the celebrations by a few days. Our St. Martin's menu, which of course includes dumplings, cabbage, kaldoun and pate in addition to the roast goose, will be available on 7 November and we'll treat the last of you to it on 12 November.
Cold weather and falling leaves? For us, that means only one thing: time to start preparing for a hard winter! And how else could we do it in our pub, but to serve you some serious calorie bombs and start building additional thermoregulatory layers together with you! Luckily, November has gifted us with a great excuse in the form of the St. Martin's Day tradition of eating roast goose and washing it down with a selection of great young and St. Martin's Day wines. Of course, since we're a pub, we'll forgive you if you mix the wines with draught Pilsner. So what have we prepared for you this year?
We traditionally start the menu with an appetizer, which is a delicate pâté of goose liver and almonds. You can spread it on a toasted baguette and the cranberry sauce will provide a great contrast. This will be the ideal companion for the colder months, because in addition to their delicious taste, cranberries contain vitamins C, A and K and will take care of your immunity. To warm you up, in addition to the wide selection of spirits, we recommend the Goose Kaldoun. This thick, creamy soup made from goose broth dates back to the 19th century and we're not surprised it's still popular today! In ours, you'll find foie gras, homemade noodles and liver dumplings on top.
The main course will be none other than roast goose and it will be a hefty portion! You can look forward to a quarter of slow-cooked goose, a combination of red and white cabbage and of course a variation of dumplings. You'll enjoy both the homemade bread and the potato greaves dumpling. For a sweet finish, we'll bake you a homemade apple strudel, accompanied by vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
If you're confident in your shoes an believe you can eat pâté, kaldoun, goose and dessert, we've got good news for you! You can enjoy the entire menu at a discounted price.
We suspect that passionate beer drinkers may not be convinced, but we would like to offer a selection of young and St. Martin's wines. In addition to the tradition of St. Martin's goose, it is also customary to taste the first wines of the year, and we certainly don't want to deprive you of that. Together with our wine supplier Korek Wines, we have selected some great wines from our local winemakers and we will have them available for you from 11.11.
We highly recommend making a reservation for this event as well, either directly on our website in the reservation form or by calling +420 778 545 878. We look forward to seeing you there!
