Welcome to the 90's! at Pivnice U Čápa
Wasn't the end of the last century a bit of a gastro hell? I don't think we'll argue about that too much. But let's also not pretend that we don't sometimes miss those 90s shenanigans. And so we've created a special menu that's packed to the brim with all your guilty pleasures from the mentioned period. You've got until the end of September to try it, just in time to not feel ashamed that we're cooking cheap and easy again!
If you just want to have something light with a beer, order all our starters and you will definitely be satisfied. Of those, we'll prepare for you no other than ham rolls with horseradish foam and pastry. You probably won't see this wedding classic at many weddings anymore, so don't miss it! You can continue with Pork Knee in jelly with root vegetable, Chicken salad in peach, or Herring rolls with sour pickle and cabbage. For the last of the appetizers, we will bring Niva blue cheese with peach and Eidam to your table.
The first main course on our menu is Chicken breast with peach. We all cry for them from time to time, but of course, wherever we are in the public, we say and know that this is a great misstep of Czech gastronomy, which is (thank God) behind us. On the other hand, there is probably not a more legendary and typical Czech dish besides Svíčková. We'll serve it to you with fries and garnish. Another specialty is Fried bread with spicy meat mix. We'll throw in a fried egg on top and, of course, sprinkle it with grated Eidam. On the plate, alongside the wonderfulness, you'll find a vegetable garnish and horseradish to go with it. The star of the evening is the Executioner's whipping, a.k.a. Katův šleh. Meat pieces with vegetables, in a typical sauce with ketchup, will be fried in a potato pancake and served with a garnish.
For beef lovers, we have prepared a sirloin steak with ham and egg, to which we will fry you potato croquettes and add (do we have to write this again?) a vegetable garnish. The last of the main courses is a classic that until now some of our mothers and grandmothers prepare for weekend lunch. We'll give you a hint, it's served with boiled potatoes and tartar sauce, and basically with nothing else (in our case, of course, a vegetable garnish). You already know? It's fried cauliflower.
That you can't do anything after this load? You'll have to get over it, because there's dessert coming, and how else but in a cup! Remember the German classic Heisse Liebe? In our interpretation, it's Hot Love, which consists of vanilla ice cream, hot raspberries and whipped cream. For this one, we decided to cheat and use our homemade one instead of the spray one (which is in the original recipe).
If you're reminiscing about your young years with us now, definitely stop by to add a little of that nostalgia right to your stomach. Make a reservation by calling 778 545 878 or directly on our website. We look forward to seeing you.
